Whether you’re a teenager or were a child of the eighties and you’ve been to a live event, there’s a good chance it was organised by 3A Entertainment. This leading independent concert and event promoter is proud to list, among others on its résumé: Live Aid, Lord of the Dance and Paul McKenna’s Hypnotic Show, and has worked with some of the biggest names in showbiz.
When dealing with the exacting demands of top acts, faultless communication systems are a must. These days WWE events are as big as they come, so it’s no surprise that 3A Entertainment enlisted the help of Brentwood Communications for the WWE RAW and SmackDown April season at London’s O2 Arena. Brentwood will also provide two way radio support to 3A during the November part of the WWE tour.
At the O2 event, Brentwood has supplied 120 x Motorola DP3400 digital radios, which provide integrated data and enhanced voice communications.
These professional standard handsets are ideal for licensed business-critical solutions, making them the perfect choice for the WWE shows. As part of the package, Brentwood has also supplied heavy-duty headsets and remote speaker mics to help combat the loud environment.
DP3400 FEATURES INCLUDE:
- Tri-colour LED indicator for visible calling, scanning and monitoring
- Emergency button to alert a supervisor
- Integrated GPS module
- Powerful, front-projecting speaker
- One-touch calling and quick text messaging
- Large, textured push-to-talk button for easy access, even when wearing gloves
- 32 channels.
In addition to providing 3A Entertainment with robust equipment, Brentwood has left them in the capable hands of one of its highly qualified engineers. Toby is attending every RAW and SmackDown O2 Arena date and is on standby to fix problems with the communications process, as well as the radios and accessories. When a battery runs low, and staff need a quick turnaround, Toby is ready with a supply of spare batteries. He is also responsible for counting the radio equipment back in at the end of each event.
Audiences are quite rightly concerned with having a great time at WWE, but if you think about keeping everyone safe at an event on this scale, it is a logistic nightmare! From ensuring that key staff are in position and emergency routes are clear, to being able to give an alert on a suspicious package. The one thing that holds it all together is good communication.
Where security is paramount, Motorola two way radios have several advantages over mobile phones. They use a closed system and allow one-to-many contact, which is so important when everyone needs to communicate at once. Radios don’t get overwhelmed in emergency situations and can also prioritise traffic so that vital communications are handled first.
