Brentwood has supplied a brand new fleet of Motorola two way radios to the Essex Army Cadet Force (ACF) , to help the young volunteers with their outdoor training exercises.
The force organises and runs a regular programme of weekend training manoeuvres and navigation exercises, most of them taking place out in the rolling Essex countryside.
The unit typically relied on mobile phones to keep in touch with one another during these activities but deep in the countryside mobile phone coverage can be patchy at best.
This led to major disruption of communications during manoeuvres which consequently caused delays within the exercises and had the potential to impact health & safety protocol.
That is why the Essex ACF’s 2nd Lieutenant decided to approach Brentwood to see if we could solve this issue. As always, we were only too happy to oblige.

Going the distance
We recommended the digital Motorola DP1400; a high performance handset that is both simple and straightforward to use while providing the balance of power and flexibility the ACF required.
In addition, the DP1400 benefits from digital noise enhancing technology, meaning that not only is signal reliable but the audio quality of transmissions is excellent too. This is a big advantage for the ACF as the handsets will be used in the wilderness while the wind is howling and the rain is hammering down.
The DP1400 is also robustly waterproof so both the radios and the Cadets will be more than capable of withstanding everything the British weather can throw at them!
