Over the weekend of 6-8 February, Brentwood Communications was once again on hand to provide two way radio support at the Doe Show in Maldon, Essex.
Now in its 59th year, the Doe Show is the UK’s largest agricultural, construction and groundcare dealer show, blending demonstrations and sales of the latest machinery with crowd-pleasing exhibitions of vintage tractors and 4×4 vehicle races.
This year’s event was another resounding success, with record visitor numbers and sales figures. Organiser hope that bodes well for next year’s extravaganza, when the Doe Show celebrates its Diamond Anniversary!
Two way radio for outdoor events
Brentwood has been attending the Doe Show for many years, lending our expertise in outdoor wireless communications to help with set-up, security and general event management. As with any large outdoor event, the main priority for two-way radio systems is to ensure reliable coverage over a wide area, as well as excellent audio to compensate for the background noise generated by crowds and machines.
This year, we hired out a fleet of Motorola DP4400 digital handsets. The DP4400 is a high performance digital two way radio packed full of features that make it an excellent all-rounder suitable for deployment in most environments. For the purposes of an outdoor event like the Doe Show, its main benefits are that it provides the additional power and wider signal area typical of digital handsets, coupled with advanced noise cancellation and intelligent audio technology, which adjusts volume and clarity to suit the surroundings.
In addition, the DP4400 is certified as fully water resistant, meaning the risk of handsets getting wet if the weather turns bad is not a problem at all. It also makes use of the classic push-button two way radio design, making it a simple handset to use even for first time operatives, and therefore ideal to hire out for an event.
All radios were supplied with a soft leather carry case and shoulder strap for added protection against the elements and extra comfort for operatives carrying them around all weekend. We also supplied a Motorola DM4600 digital vehicle radio with its own power supply to act as a standalone base station for the network.
