When it comes to London landmarks, Battersea power station has to be one of the most iconic, and sometimes controversial. This highly unusual building once generated electricity for one-fifth of the population of London. It’s also one of the largest brick-built properties in Europe, but its incredible art deco interior has been neglected since its closure in 1983.
Now, Battersea Power Station is being redeveloped into a luxury complex, complete with a theatre, apartments, and a gym. The ambitious renovation project has involved removing all four of the distinctive towers and rebuilding them like-for-like.
Clipfine is a construction company providing the team for the power station redevelopment. It contacted Brentwood to obtain some reliable radios that would allow its team members to stay in touch.
Reliable Communication
The team at Brentwood recommended the Motorola DP4400 digital radio for the project. This digital two way radio offers programmable buttons and voice announcement for convenient use in the field.
It lets users talk on 32 channels, and offers long battery life to cover a full working day with ease. It can also send predefined text messaging letting staff keep in touch if voice communication isn’t possible.
Extending the Range
The radios are being used across the Battersea Power Station site by Clipfine’s construction team. As such, they needed to ensure maximum operability across this massive 42-acre site. We recommended the Motorola DR3000 repeater, plus an antenna system that would broadcast the signal further.
Two engineers from Brentwood visited the site to set up the equipment in order on the top floor of the site offices, 4 storeys off the ground to achieve optimal coverage results.
