The week long tour climaxed with two sold out performances at Glasgow’s Hydro Arena. The venue was packed to the rafters on both nights as 13,000 hardcore fans flocked to see some of the biggest names in global sports entertainment grapple in front of the TV cameras.
Featuring superstars including Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Sasha Banks and The New Dayoth, both events in Glasgow were broadcast on WWE’s immensely popular Raw and Smackdown television shows.
Once again Brentwood was delighted to continue our relationship with 3A Entertainment, WWE’s UK promoter and event organiser, by supplying two way radio support throughout the tour.
On this occasion we supplied a fleet of Motorola DP4400 handsets to the enormous touring entourage required to plan, set up and run the shows. Radios were supplied to stage and production crew, backstage coordinators, the front of house team, security staff and, crucially, to the TV production personnel working at the Glasgow events.
With timing of televised productions absolutely essential, it was crucial that lines of communication were kept open between the broadcast team based outside the venue in the TV truck, the cameramen inside, the stage production and lighting team and the show coordinators.
To guarantee premium service, we supplied our own engineer who spent the week on the road with the 3A and WWE team providing round the clock technical support on the radios. That way, if there was to be any problem with signal coverage at a crucial time, or if a handset needed reprogramming, the issue could be fixed on the spot and the show could keep running smoothly.
In addition to the handsets, we also supplied a range of accessories including D shape earpieces, 2 wire acoustic tube earpieces, heavy duty headsets and remote speaker mics. For staff working the sound desk, the lighting, the cameras and the TV production facilities, each show is a fast paced, high energy environment where you need your hands free radio solution to get on with the job, without having to worry about operating a two way radio handset.
Plus, wrestling fans know how to create an atmosphere – when their heroes hit the ring, the decibels soar, so using earpieces is important to make sure production and coordination teams can hear each other above the din!
Top level sports and entertainment is just one of the many types of event Brentwood Communications supplies two way radios for. If you would like to find out more about our premium services or hands free radio, please contact us on 01245 403520.
