Essex-based construction contractor JAC Groundwork & Civil Engineering specialise in ground preparation, demolition and aggregate delivery for commercial and residential building sites.
The firm was experiencing inconsistent communication problems throughout their fleet of excavation and haulage vehicles which were using a mix of CB radios and mobile phones.
JAC’s fleet operators required the simplicity, reliability and audio quality of two way radio with the ability to perform over a longer distance. The Brentwood Communications team prides itself not only on being extremely knowledgeable about the latest trends in wireless technology, but also in being able to identify the right solution for every client. In JAC’s case, it was easy – we knew straight away that the innovative IDARO solution was the perfect match for them.
IDARO can be described as a hybrid between two way radio and mobile technology. A range of handsets are available for this state-of-the-art technology which all function just like a two way radio. By which we mean, a push-to-talk button, high fidelity loudspeakers, group calling by default, channel select etc.
The difference is, instead of using conventional radio signals to transmit and receive signals, IDARO uses mobile data. This means that, just like your smart phone, you need a SIM card and mobile plan to connect to 4G/3G (they can also use WiFi when available to save data, just like your phone). It also means that IDARO handsets offer universal coverage.
We provided four IDARO TE300 handsets to JAC, as well as two M5 vehicle mounted units. Used by vehicle drivers and machine operators as well as staff at the head office (including the company MD), this gave JAC the best of both worlds benefits they were looking for – long distance coverage, straightforward operation and reliable performance.
