100 Bishopsgate is a new commercial mixed use development located on the eastern fringes of the City of London financial district, close to Liverpool Street tube station. Comprising two buildings – a main 40-storey tower and a second seven-storey structure – the completed development will include more than 65,000m2 of office space plus restaurants and other hospitality and leisure facilities.
To support construction, developers and contractors purchased a fleet of Motorola DP4400 two way radios from Brentwood. The DP4400 is an advanced non-display digital handset featuring the very latest audio technology and a wide range of high performance features. Supplied to facilities personnel, security staff and site management, each device was set up with options for private and group calling to help streamline communications across teams, and were also programmed with emergency calling and Lone Worker remote monitoring features to support safety on site.
As with all large scale construction projects, achieving robust, reliable network coverage throughout the site was one of the main challenges facing us at 100 Bishopsgate. To complement the DP4400 handsets, we supplied Motorola SLR5000 repeater units to increase signal range with a supporting distributed antenna system (DAS) throughout the building. To ensure seamless communication between the two buildings, we also set up Linked Capacity Plus trunking software to connect the two sites.
