Situated between Milton Court and Silk Street to the north of the City, The Heron is a dual purpose 36-storey residential skyscraper that doubles up as the new home of the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Amongst its stand-out features, The Heron boasts an opulent 8-storey high atrium, a 625-seat concert hall and a 225-seat theatre. In total, the upper portion of the building houses 284 residential apartments.
Asked to provide a communications solution which would boost day-to-day operational efficiency as well as support health and safety protocols, Brentwood supplied The Heron’s facility management and security teams with Motorola DP4400e digital two way radios.
Supervisors and managers, meanwhile, carry ultra compact, high performance Motorola SL4000e handsets, a full keypad and display model which offers telephone and email integration plus network monitoring, dispatch console and work order ticket functions. All devices are programmed with safety alert and monitoring features such as emergency calling and Lone Worker, plus the option to make private and group calls.
Because of the size of the premises, we also supplied Motorola DR3000 digital repeater units and a distributed antenna system (DAS) to boost signal range, ensuring critical communications can get through to all users throughout the building.
