One of our most innovative communications solutions, the Lugra PTT platform, has been flying high this week at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg.
AIX is the world’s biggest trade event for the aircraft equipment and in-flight services supply chain, which covers everything from cabin interior furnishings to in-flight entertainment, on-board connectivity to passenger services. This year, more than 18,000 guests were welcomed over the four days from Tuesday 2nd April to Thursday 4th April.
One of our clients, global logistics giant DB Schenker, took a fleet of Lugra L400 devices along as they exhibited at the expo. The company plays a critical role in the aerospace industry supply chain, providing a link between airlines, parts manufacturers, distributors and contractors with a range of services including supply chain management and repair logistics.
The company uses the L400s for a variety of purposes and the ability to fly them in for an overseas trade show and use them straight off, without the need for any additional infrastructure or equipment, demonstrates the unique agility of the solution.
Communication Solution
The Lugra L400 is a robust, purpose-built android handset loaded with the Lugra PTT software platform. The unique selling point of Lugra PTT technology is that, via a simple app download, it can turn the device into fully-functioning two way radio, with the same one-touch call operation, the same full-network broadcast capabilities.
With the Lugra L400, the PTT software comes ready loaded. Tougher than your standard mobile handset and with a push-to-talk button on the side, the Lugra L400 is just like a super compact, super lightweight two way radio.
The big difference, however, is that the Lugra L400 and its PTT software operate on mobile data, not on radio frequencies – no need to pay for a separate frequency license. This not only overcomes the geographic boundaries of limited two way radio network areas, but means you get full two way functionality wherever you can get a 3G or 4G signal.
DB Schenker makes full use of this flexibility by having four call groups programmed into its L400 handsets, serving four different purposes across the event.
As demonstrated this week, the L400 provides an extremely convenient solution for events and other temporary uses. No matter the location, the handsets deliver a ready-made communications solution without the need for additional equipment or installation. This flexibility in where and how they can be used helps to maximise the value users get from this groundbreaking device.
