Brentwood Communications is delighted to announce that it has been recruited to supply two way radio solutions to the Brockham Bonfire, one of the country’s biggest Guy Fawkes Night extravaganzas.
Held annually in the picturesque Surrey village of Brockham, the event attracts hundreds of visitors to watch the famous giant bonfire light up the skies, along with a spectacular professional fireworks display and traditional Guy Fawkes procession.
Run by Brockham Bonfire Ltd, the event is a major logistical exercise with the safety of all visitors and residents of Brockham of paramount importance.
With the need to coordinate traffic and pedestrians coming into the village as well to manage safety around the Brockham bonfire and firework display, organisers were looking for a large scale radio network to offer reliable, clear communication for stewards working right across the village.
Brentwood have supplied a suite of Motorola DP2400 radios, part of the new generation of digital two way radios offering best in class audio, 40 per cent longer battery life compared to analogue models and hard-wearing robust construction, perfect for use in the smoke and potential rain of Bonfire Night.
The handsets have been supplied with both 2 Wire or Earhanger earpieces, as well as remote speaker mics, to enable completely hands-free use in the evening. This will allow stewards to move around more freely and focus on the job rather than focusing on the radio in their hand all night. Each steward has also been supplied with a leather carry case with shoulder strap and belt clip, a better option than carrying the set in a pocket and offering additional protection from the elements.
In order to increase the network coverage of the Motorola DP2400 digital two way radios so that stewards can remain in contact with one another across the entire village, we have supplied a Motorola DR3000 repeater coupled with GM340 Base Station, which comes with a pump up mast.
The GM340 provides a single base point for coordinating operations in a network. It can be vehicle mounted to allow for flexibility in positioning, while the mast helps boost signal coverage. The DR3000 repeater also plays a key role in increasing network coverage by amplifying the signal, thus covering a larger area, ideal for the Brockham Bonfire.
