Thrills, spills and rollercoasters – everyone loves a day out at a theme park. But while visitors enjoy non-stop fun, behind the scenes keeping everyone safe and happy is a full-time job.
Brentwood Communications was delighted to be contacted by Thorpe Park recently asking for help to review their two way radio systems. We have been working with the Surrey-based fun park identifying their requirements and supplying equipment to match. Covering such a large area, one of the key demands of operating a theme park is making sure staff members can stay in touch at all times. With the noise of rides and happy visitors to contend with, clarity and reliability in radio equipment is paramount.
HIGH PERFORMANCE
We recommended a suite of high performance handsets, with a flexible range of functionalities to suit different roles within the park. We supplied three radio models in total – the Motorola DP4401, Motorola DP4601 and Motorola DP4801 – a state of the art Motorola two way radio digital range available at a competitive price. All models are GPS enabled and feature high performance intelligent audio, filtering out background noise and providing outstanding call clarity via digital signals. The DP4401, the only handset in the range not to feature a screen, provides the general functions suitable to everyday use across a busy, large-scale site, with integrated bluetooth for connecting wireless headsets and mobile network connectivity. The DP4601 adds a control screen and an expanded suite of functions for high performance integrated radio, including a group calling option which allows broadcast to chosen members of the team. The DP4801 includes a full keypad and is ideal for team leaders and heads of security, with dispatching and work order ticket functions allowing tasks to be allocated to specific people remotely.
SAFETY FEATURES
The entire Motorola two way radio DP4000 range includes important safety features such as emergency button and man down for raising the alarm instantly across the network. GPS also means that any individual user can be quickly located, no matter the size of the site. Standard battery life for all handsets in the range is 12 hours, meaning staff can easily get through a shift on a single charge. And with a broadcast range of 3km without having to boost coverage with additional signal repeaters, the Motorola two way radio DP4000 handsets can comfortably keep staff in touch even across a theme park-sized site.
