Radio Hire for Annual Celebration of the Finest Real Ales in the UK

The Chelmsford Beer and Cider Festival is an annual celebration of the finest real ales in the UK. The event was founded in 1977, and attracts CAMRA members from all over the country. From humble beginnings – 34 beers from 16 breweries – the event has grown to incorporate more than 300 beers, plus a variety of other beverages that can be sampled over the weekend.

As the event has grown, security and safety has become paramount. The organisers invite volunteers to help run the event and ensure that it follows its schedule. The team at Brentwood provided a range of two way radio equipment to ensure everybody could keep in touch for the duration of the event, which took place from Tuesday 5th to Saturday 10th July.

The Requirements

The organisers of the Chelmsford Beer and Cider Festival needed a discreet yet reliable solution. They wanted to ensure that everybody was in touch, and there was no chance of a call being missed.

At the same time, they asked for equipment that was robust enough to withstand continual use, as well as being convenient to carry. Brentwood therefore needed to provide a solution that would ensure comfortable hands free use.

Hire Equipment

Brentwood supplied a fleet of analogue Motorola DP1400 radios. The extended battery life is ideal for long shifts, while the noise cancellation helps people to be heard in busy environments.

In addition, we supplied 2 wire acoustic tube earpieces, which are commonly used in surveillance and covert operations. These earpieces allow the user to speak and listen without attracting attention. Brentwood also supplied some D shape earpieces, also suitable for use with the Motorola DP 1400.

To make the radios easy to carry, the Chelmsford Beer and Cider Festival hired soft leather carry cases for the radios. These cases allow users to carry the radio on their belt, or over their shoulder, and have convenient cut-out sections so that the radio can be used without being removed from the holster.

As an added benefit, cases also protect the radios and guard against accidental bumps and scrapes, and the accumulation of dirt or moisture.

Affordable Radio Hire

Once equipped with our Motorola DP1400 radios, security and event staff could keep in touch through the course of the event, across the various bars around Admiral’s Park.
