Brentwood is the preferred supplier of two way radios for many premiership and league football clubs in the UK.
Following several tests and trials at White Hart Lane, Brentwood designed a five channel trunk and antenna system. They supplied the staff with two types of Motorola handheld radios: GP688s (with display) and GP644s (non-display).
Brentwood chose the trunk system because it pools channels to offer easy access. This means users can make calls quickly even during busy periods. Brentwood also re-engineered the antenna system to ensure 100 per cent coverage across the whole stadium. The handheld radios are compact, lightweight and robust. The GP688 has a keypad along with the display. At the touch of a button, managers can use them to communicate with individuals, or to the whole group. They can also send and receive text messages, and even make telephone calls.
To combat the deafening roar of fans on match days, Brentwood also supplied noise-cancelling headsets. They also provided the stewards with convenient throat microphones.
The management were delighted with their new radio communication system. The cutting-edge technology meant it increased the efficiency of their operation, and improved the ‘health and safety’ of everyone in the stadium. This was particularly important for the players, fans and staff on match days.
