More information

Caterpillar is a brand renowned for making things tough. From excavation equipment to workwear, you expect Cat products to durable, hard-wearing, and up to the challenge of harsh environments. Even their range of purpose-built smartphones.

But a smartphone that won’t ever let you down, no matter what gets thrown at it? That’s a big claim, but one Cat is happy to make about the S75. And when you get to try it out and look at its specs, you can understand why.

It starts with build quality. Smartphones are notoriously vulnerable to the kind of bumps and scrapes you have to expect with a device you carry around with you all day, every day. A drop onto a hard floor chips the casing or cracks the screen. Drop it in water and it’s time to start looking for a new phone.

Not so with the Cat S75. This is about as tough as smartphone technology comes. It comes with an IP69K environmental stress rating, which means it is completely dustproof and about as waterproof as a handheld electronic device can get. It can survive full submersion in up to 5m of water for 35 minutes, and washdown pressures of 100bar/1450psi. Accidentally shoot a firehose on the S75 and it will live to fight another day.

It is also tested to military endurance specifications MIL-STD-810 H, meaning it can handle temperature extremes from -30oC to 75oC and has been drop tested from heights of 1.8m onto steel.

This level of durability applies to the entire phone and all its components – the 6.58″ (20:9) FHD+ Corning Gorilla Glass Touchscreen, the 8MP front and 50MP rear cameras, the latter of which features an underwater mode. And because it is so hard-wearing, the S75 also represents a more sustainable choice of smartphone. With a lifespan up to 30% longer than the average smartphone, the S75 slows down the rate at which you need to buy a new phone.

The Cat S75 is also built for ultimate reliability in terms of keeping you connected, wherever you are. Fitted with an Idaro SIM, the S75 can connect to 5G, 4G LTE and 3G mobile networks for seamless multimedia communication as you roam.

And even if your roaming takes you beyond the reaches of mobile signal out into the wilds, the S75 has a secret weapon – optional satellite connectivity, for truly international coverage. While it doesn’t offer the same rich data connectivity as mobile networks do, using the S75 as a satellite phone allows you to communicate via text, share your location and send an SOS request if you get into trouble – the perfect support for adventurers.
