Description

When communication on the move is critical to team operations, the Hytera PD485 digital two-way radio delivers. With its advanced features, OLED display and full keypad, the PD485 radio offers a simple communication solution that is ideal for coordinating operations in sectors like manufacturing, facilities management and security.

First and foremost, the PD485 ticks the boxes you want all two way radios to tick. Digital voice processing and powerful output deliver outstanding audio quality to ensure voice communications get through loud and clear, even in noisy environments.

The handset is designed for convenience and flexibility. As well as the conventional push-to-talk (PTT) button, the PD485 also supports VOX. This hands-free voice activation feature allows you to activate the radio microphone at speaking volume with only your voice – without the need to press the PTT button. With optional Bluetooth, you can combine that with wireless audio accessories for the ultimate hands-free convenience.

With its full keypad and display, it is easy to dial in optional features to suit the environment you are working in. It also supports text messaging. Those optional features include end-to-end encryption of both voice and data transmissions, guaranteeing privacy for sensitive communications.

For professionals in sectors where there are tangible physical risks such as security or heavy industry, the PD485 also comes with a range of safety protocols. Emergency calling and priority interrupt mean that critical messages can always get through, even when call channels are busy. A one touch Emergency Alarm issues an alert across all devices connected to the network, while remote monitoring allows user status to be checked by colleagues and supervisors.

If you upgrade to the PD485G, teams can also get the benefit of satellite tracking and location based services. A built-in GPS module and GPS antenna are designed for outdoor positioning, making it the ideal tool to support location based requirements such as pinpointing where an Emergency Alarm has has come from. This helps teams to respond in a timely manner in emergency situations.

Other optional features include TDMA trunking, which effectively enhances frequency efficiency and allows multiple broadcasts to take place on the same channel. This is an effective way of boosting channel capacity but also offers another means of ensuring that critical messages can always get through when required.

The PD485 also supports dispatch applications. Handsets are compatible with Hytera’s own SmartOne and SmartDispatch communication management platforms, through which you can run a radio registration service (RSS). This allows central dispatch command to monitor the status of all radios at all times, and allocate job tickets.

While the PD485 is primarily a digital mobile radio (DMR) and boasts its fair share of advanced digital features, it is also a dual-mode handset that can operate as an analogue radio. Because it can monitor both analogue and digital signals simultaneously, it can be used as a ‘bridge’ in mixed fleets of legacy analogue and modern digital radios, helping organisations with their migration to digital.

User Environment & Radio Ratings

Built for long-lasting performance, the PD485 is tested to Military Standards 810 C, D, E, F and G for durability against temperature shock, vibration, humidity and more. It also comes with an IP54 rating for protection against dust and water ingress.

Hytera PD485 Licence Type

The Hytera PD485 is a licensed two way radio, which means it requires an OFCOM licence to operate. It can work in UHF or VHF frequency bands in the 400-470 MHz and 136-174 MHz ranges, which have access restricted under licence for commercial use. We will apply for the licence as part of the hire or purchase process. Please contact us to find out more.
