The Kenwood Nexedge NX-3320E is a high specification Two-way digital radio designed to offer a range of voice and data transmission options.
The NX-3320E is a compact full keypad display model with a 14-character, four-line screen. It supports text messaging, with a 12-key alphanumeric keypad, and a large 4-way D-pad for scrolling through menu options. Other control options include volume and channel select switches, a push-to-talk button and programmable buttons. There is a seven-colour LED indicator on top to show different statuses and functions.
The NX-3320E supports mixed digital modes, operating in both NXDN and DMR digital protocols, plus FM analogue protocols, simultaneously. This flexibility of digital and FM analogue operation makes Nexedge radios the perfect choice for mixed fleets of modern and legacy handsets from all manufacturers, and gives organisation the freedom to migrate from analogue to DMR digital radio gradually.
As well as multiple voice protocols, the NX-3320E is packed with convenient features like Bluetooth for hands-free operation. Each radio utilizes built-in DSP (digital signal processing) to identify and connect to the applicable Bluetooth profiles of wireless devices, either Bluetooth Headset Profile (HSP) for headphone and microphone sets, or Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP) for other peripheral devices.
The handset includes Kenwood’s trademark Active Noise Reduction (ANR), which filters out unwanted noise from the environment to deliver crystal-clear audio in all circumstances. It has a built-in motion sensor for Man Down fall monitoring and other motion/stationary alerts, along with an emergency call button which overrides the network when an alarm needs to be raised.
The NX-3320E operates on UHF frequencies, making it ideal for indoor use in office buildings, hospitals, schools, shopping malls and outdoors in built-up urban areas. The handsets include AES and DES encryption software for keeping communications secure over the airwaves.
Each comes with 260 available channels in digital mode as standard, although that can be expanded to 1000. The NXDN protocol offers Type C and Gen2 trunking options for building high-capacity, high-volume networks with large numbers of users. In DMR mode, NX-3320E handsets also support site roaming for use across multiple locations without the need for re-programming.
The NX-3000 series offers a number of safety protections for users in hazardous environments. These include Lone Worker, which issues an alert to users if the handset is now used for a fixed period of time. Activity Detection uses a motion sensor built into the handset to trigger alerts if abnormal movement is detected, including Man Down fall alerts. And a one-touch Emergency Button overrides all calls on the network in order to raise an alarm. Built-in GPS also provides location tracking for every handet, so if an alam is raised, the response can be as swift as possible.
In addition to the wide range of features and functions included with the NX-3320E as standard, Kenwood also offers future-proof flexibility with support for software license certification, allowing clients and third-party developers to programme their own additional features and customise the handsets as desired.
All Kenwood NX-3000 series portable radios are designed to guarantee reliable performance in tough environments and each handset goes through a series of stringent tests before shipment. They meet the IP55 international water and dust ingress protection standards, with IP67 rating available as an option. This means the devices can withstand being fully submerged in water. All radios also meet the MIL-STD 810 C to G US military standards which test durability against drop, immersion, splash, key punch, extreme temperature, dust, and heavy rain.
All Kenwood two-way radios come with a two year manufacturers warranty.
