More information
Part of the Kenwood ProTalk range, the TK-3701D is a dual-mode analogue and digital two way radio that operates on free-to-access public frequencies.
Like the rest of the ProTalk range, the TK-3701D benefits from having pre-programmed digital and analogue channels ready to go straight out of the box, meaning the handset can communicate immediately with any type of radio.
Unlike other dual mode solutions, it can also switch seamlessly between analogue and digital, making it an ideal addition to mixed fleets, or a stepping stone for gradually migrating from analogue to digital handsets.
As a license-free two way radio, the TK-3701D also represents a highly cost effective option, giving small businesses the benefits of digital without the need to pay for a licence.
In total, the TK-3701D offers 32 digital channels and 16 analogue. A unique feature is the presence of a second push-to-talk (PTT) button, which makes it easier for users to interact with different user groups at once. While a supervisor uses one channel to relay instructions to one team, for example, they can also use a second channel via the second PTT button to keep communicating with another group of colleagues.
In digital mode, the TK-3701D offers all the benefits of enhanced audio and signal clarity associated with the latest technology. In general terms, digital two way radios are less ‘noisy’ at the limits of their signal range compared to analogue. Kenwood’s digital PMR446 standard also includes modulation technology that effectively boosts signal range by 20% compared to analogue.
In addition, TK-3701D handsets benefit from the AMBE-2 vocoder, which reduces signal delay and makes reproduction of voice audio more natural sounding. The BTL audio amplifier provides powerful output for crisp, clear reception even in noisy environments.
Recognising that licence-free radios are becoming increasingly popular in business and industry because of the cost savings they offer, Kenwood has built the TK-3701D with use in tough environments in mind. Each handset meets US military (US-MIL) standards for factors such as shock, vibration and temperature extremes, and also offers dust ingress and water proofing protection.
A flexible seven-colour LED indicator on the top of each handset can be put to a range of uses, including unit/department identification or to show current operating mode. The high capacity lithium ion battery can run for up to 18 hours on a single charge.
