PMS International is the UK’s leading importer and distributor of consumer products. They wanted to boost the efficiency and productivity of their operation by improving the communication between staff.
That’s why they turned to Brentwood Communications to supply the latest, cost-effective, two way radios.
PMS provides a wide range of products including toys, novelties, gardening products, and caravan equipment. The group have a large site in Essex, which includes offices, industrial buildings and transport areas.
The company boasts 24,000 sq ft of showroom space, and 500,000 sq ft of warehousing that holds enough stock to enable rapid turnaround for buyers. They also run their own fleet of modern trucks to deliver a fast, distribution service nationwide.

Following a full site survey, we were able to recommend a two way radio range that can provide reliable coverage, and match the specific needs of different workers.
Radios for Outdoors
We chose portable, two-way radios CP040 (Motorola) and VX-351 (Vertex Standard) for employees that work outside. These analogue radios are rugged and weatherproof, and capable of providing sharp reception across the whole terrain in all conditions.
They are ideal for staff involved in the distribution process. Effective radios are able to help workers transfer goods between the warehouse and lorries more efficiently. For example, they can use the radios during the loading and unloading of heavy goods by the forklift trucks. In addition, better communication improves the safety of all operatives.
Although compact and lightweight, these radios are powerful enough to provide uninterrupted coverage. The simple design means they require minimal staff training – personnel are able to talk to each other at the touch of a button. The clear and strong audio allows them to hear and make calls in the busiest areas. In particular, the CP040 allows supervisors to liaise with the whole team, or change channels to discuss a more complicated issue one-to-one.
Radios for Indoors
Brentwood’s engineers found the most suitable handheld, two-way radios for indoor use were the TK3301 (Kenwood) and XTNiD (Motorola). Easy to use, small and lightweight, these rugged radios keep team members in touch without distracting them with complicated features.
With a very good range, these radios offer optimum coverage. The enhanced audio allows workers to communicate even in the noisy environment of the warehouse. The rechargeable batteries provide up to 20 hours of life, ensuring continuous operation throughout the day or night.
