More information
Part of Motorola’s XT400 range, the Motorola XT460 two way radio is a tough, reliable and straightforward business class two way radio that delivers excellent value. As an unlicensed handset, it delivers quality performance at an affordable price and is quick and simple to get started with.
Ideal for use in hospitality, retail, schools, light industry and construction, the XT460 features a powerful loudspeaker, advanced radio frequency engineering and wind noise reduction which delivers consistent, clear audio in noisy environments, indoors and out.
The handset is designed for convenience and ease of use, regardless of how much experience the operator has with two way radio. As well as the main push-to-talk button, volume control and channel select, it features a simple display with scroll and menu buttons for selecting functions and moving between pre-programmed channel groups.
There are 16 channels in all and, as well as the visual display, the XT460 features channel audio announce so a user does not always have to look at the handset to know which one they have selected. A tri-colour LED also provides handset status updates.
If operatives are busy and receive a call when their hands are full with other things, they can still reply and take part in a conversation using voice-operated mode (VOX) – the handset will automatically switch from receive into transmission mode as soon as it picks up their voice.
As an unlicensed two way radio, the XT460 uses the free-to-access 446 MHz frequency range set aside by Ofcom for open public use. This means you don’t have to buy a licence, helping to keep costs down. It does, however, mean there is the risk of interference from other users on the network and even eavesdropping. For added protection, the XT460 includes 219 privacy codes which help to keep the signal clear and protect privacy.
The XT460 is reliable in all circumstances and can stand up to heavy use. Its durable diecast chassis meets IP55 specifications for dust and water protection and comes with a special antimicrobial coating which prevents the growth of mould and bacteria – perfect for environments where food is prepared or hand hygiene is of high importance. It has also been certified against Motorola’s demanding five-year Accelerated Life Test, which assesses durability over time in conditions that simulate rain, salt fog, blowing dust and temperature extremes.
A fully charged battery lasts up to 20 hours, which means two workers on consecutive shifts can often share a handset without it having to be charged in between.
