This compact two way radio weighs just 285g with the standard battery – Motorola’s patented power-optimized IMPRES™ cell, which offers up to 32 hours of runtime on a single charge.

Loud, clear, AI-enhanced audio cuts through background noise so messages get through the first time. Powerful built-in speakers provide an optional extra-loud audio profile for the most extreme environments, while an AI noise suppression algorithm strips out anything in the signal that isn’t the user’s voice.

A built-in GNSS receiver means R5 devices can be located and tracked in real-time, helping to maintain a clear link between workers and aiding coordination and safety.

All of this is packaged in a tough, compact unit that’s built to last.  It is waterproof and dustproof with an IP67 protection rating, and meets MIL-STD-810 standards for resilience against harsh environmental conditions like temperature changes and humidity, drops, vibration and other shocks. There’s also an intrinsically safe (IS) version with additional anti-ignition safety features for use in environments where flammable substances present a fire or explosion hazard.
