The Kenwood NX-3220E2 is a multi-mode two way radio capable of operating as an analogue and digital radio simultaneously.
Featuring a four-line display, the NX-3220E2 is part of Kenwood’s next generation Nexedge range. Supporting dual digital modes, analogue, GPS, Bluetooth and advanced trunking options, it combines a rich feature set with reliable performance and robust construction – perfect for mission critical communications in fast paced environments like industry and security.
With Kenwood’s Active Noise Reduction (ANR) technology, the NX-3220E2 can be used confidently around heavy machinery or anywhere where there is high volume background noise. As a VHF two way radio, it is well suited to use outdoors in the open where a large coverage area is required.
NX-3220E2 handsets are built for use in all weathers and in tough environments. They meet the IP54, IP55 and IP67 standards for water resistance and dust ingress, and are rated according to the US military standards MIL-STD-810 C/D/E/F/G for temperature, vibration and shock resistance.
The NX-3220E2 is compact and straightforward to use, with a four-direction scrolling D-pad for navigating options on the screen, a Push-to-Talk button, volume control and channel selector. It includes an Emergency Button safety feature for raising alarms, and also has a built-in motion detector which issues Man Down alerts in the event of a fall.
On top of the handset, there is a seven-colour LED indicator which displays the current mode in use. Each handset also comes programmed with AES and DES encryption software to ensure communications are kept private within the network.
The ability to operate in both digital and analogue modes simultaneously makes the NX-3220E2 a good choice if you are planning on upgrading your two way radio fleet to digital. Instead of switching all handsets at once, you can add a few Nexedge radios at a time, and they will still communicate seamlessly with your older analogue models.
The NX-3220E2 also supports two digital modes, the industry standard DMR protocol and Kenwood’s own NXDN. The normal channel capacity is 260, but operating on DMR, this can be doubled using dual-slot direct mode, while Type C and Gen2 trunking in NXDN can increase the channel capacity to 1000.
