Located in the heart of Tower Hamlets in London’s East End, Olga Primary School is a thriving educational hub serving families from a richly diverse community. Rated as a ‘Good’ school in its last two Ofsted inspections, Olga prides itself on creating a warm, inclusive and safe learning environment that supports all pupils from the ages of three to 11 to be the best they can possibly be.
As part of the school’s safeguarding protocols, it operates a fleet of two way radios that are carried by staff so they can quickly call for support if any accidents or emergency situations occur. These are particularly important for staff who work with children with special educational needs and disabilities, who may experience medical emergencies, or suffer other episodes that pose a danger to themselves and others.
The school was experiencing poor signal range and battery life, which meant there was a risk that they wouldn’t be able to contact colleagues effectively in emergency situations. For example, the radios lost signal when the staff member was in the lift. The school’s leadership team acknowledged it was time to upgrade their fleet of two way radios to a more reliable business-class model that would better serve their needs.
